OUCH!

I have learnt, thou shalt not strip plastic coating off copper wire with scissors, the gash on my left thumb is proof of this! So i admit, i have put to the side (another way of saying, given up at this stage of things) the mountain of photos to be scrapped, and i had some fantastic ideas for cards using copper wire and beads. All good i hear you say, well, i thought so too, until i sliced a hole in the top of my thumb when the scissors slipped! Never mind, kids to the rescue and 4 sticking plasters later we are good to go again......... Ok, so i have now put the copper wire to the side, hubby kindly finished it off for me, muttering something about being impatient and waiting for wire strippers.....and i have moved onto organising my paper, ribbon and embellishment stash. Are you like me, enough paper for a Guy Fawkes bonfire, placed carefully into piles but with no sense of order or matching ribbons, flowers, embellishments nearby so you can just pick up and go for it! Well, i am going to work really hard today on sorting things a wee bit better, it's the perfect day for it here as the weather has turned, so here goes, sorting time. It will be good as there are no scissors or wire involved, however it may pay to keep the sticking plasters close by just in case.....

DROWNING IN PAINT, GLITTER AND EMBELLISHMENTS!

Well, if I do get RSI in my wrists because of painting, it will all be worth it! Crafty Chics has been working on several wooden word orders in time for Christmas so things have been really busy! But lots of fun! During the past few days the Christmas papers and embellishments have been put to the side and we are concentrating on colour combination for children's names and home decor. The paint brushes are certainly get a great work out! :)

TIME FOR ONESELF!

Yes, even when you are busy working with general everday stuff or your job, you need to remember to take some time for you. It is in all the self help books ever published, and every magazine article ever printed, regarding stress and how to cope ( trust me, I've read plenty of them! ) So today I not only talked the talk, but walked the walk! While in the middle of painting several wooden words for our Xmas orders, I made sure that I took some time for me! Unfortunately for my husband taking time for me, meant taking some $$ credit off the credit card! However it was for a good cause, at least that is what I will tell him....work expenses....I succumbed to purchasing a scrapbooking publication from a local web site! It will be worth it, inspiration for more work! There, how is that for a great excuse. Well I'm sure ( hoping ) that it will work for me!
Happy scrapping! :)

TIME FLIES!

WOW!Time has just sped by during the past month! We had a wonderful family holiday at Tangalooma Resort on Moreton Island just off the Gold Coast in Oz during Oct. This resulted in many happy memories being produced and hundreds (and I do mean hundreds!) of photos! Of course these now need to be down loaded, saved to disk and then printed out to be framed and scrapped. As well as that fantastic time, I sneaked off on my own adventure for 9 days recently.......New York! I put my big girl undies on, hitched them up as high as they would go and jetted off! The main reason for the trip was to attend the New York Marathon, which I competed in as a walker and despite being rather sick with bronchitis and a chest infection, I managed to pull off a respectable 6hr 48min finish! So......I have even more photos to sort! As well as that there are several orders for wooden words to be completed before Xmas and......we start our adults Xmas Wooden Word class tomorrow! I must admit, it is good to be busy! And....I am actually looking forward to scrapping all those photos!
Happy scrappin everyone! :)

SCRAPPING IN THE SUN!!

Long may it last! The sun is awsome at the moment! I had a very enjoyable time scrapping on the comfy lounge chair in the sun yesterday. The page was titled "Just Because" and it was a journal type of page, remember, not every page needs to contain photos, I have one to do using tickets from the recent ukulele performance we went to, I will scrap the tickets and put some journalling in. Today has also been great productivity wise, I am printing out masses of photos to put into the Opunake Athletic Club album and to scrap throughout the week. I am finding that if I do a heap of photo printing at once, then I have no excuse to not scrap book!! Oct has now arrived, next thing to think about.......dare I say it......Christmas Cards!!

See you soon! Happy scrapping!

IT'S SNOW TIME!

When it happened back in July I thought we were very lucky to get a day of pure snow and some fantastic shots, well it may be hard to believe but it has happened again! So there are now a growing pile of snow shots to be scrapped. I am trying to think beyond the traditional square and scrapping them in light blue and white, I am contemplating along the lines of perhaps a silver or a grey, still unsure at this stage. What I do know for sure is that the cold outside is perfect for encouraging me to stay indoors where it is warm and actually scrap the photos before they end up at the bottom of photos to scrap pile! Good luck to all of you that have those wonderful snow shots, who knows when it will come again!

Crafty Chics on the Coast have some samples on display at the Mid Winter fund raiser for Opunake Primary School. The display looks fantastic, it is really stunning! Even managed to see Santa, we thought he might be somewhere tropical during his time off, but no, he was hard at work! Well worth a trip. =)

WHEN IT ALL BEGAN....

Have just spent much of Easter cleaning through and sorting out a display in time for this weeks Royal Wedding, I had various scrapbooks from 1981 when I was 10 years old, when Charles married Diana and like many girls my age at the time, I was captivated by her, therefore I began collecting magazine articles and photos and gluing them frantically into scrapbooks. I am also very fortunate to have many of the large magazine posters that advertise that weeks current issue. So if you want to take a step back in time and read some old newspapers from 1981, 1982, 1983 then feel free to call in to the shop and have a browse.

What!!!???

OMG!!! Where has the time gone?! This year is literally flying by....I cannot believe that it has been so long since my last post. Classes at Crafty Chics have been great this term, we have been focusing on the wooden words, they are looking fantastic and it is great to see people's ideas and how they go about putting their individual stamp on things. We also had a class member who spent the term working on a large canvas to display family photo's, it turned out awesome! Personally I have not been scrapping as much as I would like, I really think that I needed to schedule it in or else it just gets missed out. I have some fantastic kits from Lime Tart that I am drooling over and I am desperate to get onto them, plus night time scrapping has started again at Pastimes, Opunake on a Monday night, I must get my pages pre ready and go along. Hmm...maybe with winter coming I can hibernate a bit and get onto things.....I'll let you know!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Best wishes everyone for a fantastic New Year! I hope that it is everything that you have wished for! It is great here at the moment, the ongoing weather has been awesome, it has been wonderful start to the year! Many days spent at the beach!.......and in the garden! I have never have seeds sprout so fast! I put radish seeds in the other day and they sprouted in just 3 days! Unbelieveable! Also I have been pottering around cleaning various scrapbooking tools, scissors are finished and ready to go! Which is great because the Becky Higgins Project Life kit arrived the day before Christmas day and because of the constant fine weather it has remained in its box. I have also renewed my subscription to Lime Tart kits that come monthly from Australia, they are fantastic, a real treat to look forward too! So, dare I say it....maybe a day or two of rain would be appreciated.....not just for the gardens and farmers......but also to get some Christmas photos scrapped!!!
